It is within this context that SickKids Foundation welcomes applications for the role of Intern, Operations

POSITION STATUS: Temporary Full Time Contract (4 months)

This position is open to candidates who have recently graduated (recent graduates are considered individuals who have graduated from an accredited university or college within the last 36 months); or to candidates who are enrolled in or are attending a recognized secondary school, college, or university on a full-time basis and are planning to continue full-time studies in the next school term, however, candidates should not be enrolled in a school program in which work experience is a mandatory requirement for graduation (this role does not qualify for completion of a co-op placement).




As a member of the Operations team, the Intern, Operations will map out, diagrammatically, a high-level process from the time a gift is received at the Foundation to when it gets granted to the Hospital by working with cross-functional teams across the operations and fund-raising teams (wherever needed). The student will work together with the Committee for Maximizing Operations Processes (CMOP) who would oversee this project and provide necessary guidance  and inputs.


•     Map out how different types of gifts are registered at the Foundation;

•     Map the gift as it moves from the different departments at the Foundation to the Hospital: find efficiencies throughout the processes and any significant gaps;

•     Leverage current processes from different departments that are already mapped (I.e., GA, Granting, etc.) to provide a seamless view of the donation journey;

•     Highlight steps along the way that are imperative for fundraisers (or others) to follow;

•     Emphasize the impact of a breakdown in a particular step of the process;

•     Highlight current pain points and propose recommendations to ease or eliminate it;

•     Additional responsibilities as assigned.


•     Enrolled/Completed a University degree or Community college diploma

•     Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work across cross-functional teams

•     Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize activities, issues and multiple demands and tight deadlines;

•     Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively with other Foundation staff.

•     Nice to have: Experience with Visio
